- You will write an approximately two-page paper (no more than two, but not less than 1, and not including references) on the history of the American Criminal Justice System.
- For example, you could write a paper about slavery and its connection to Jim Crow Laws. Or you could discuss a Supreme Court case that focuses on prisoner rights or punishment policy.
- In this paper, reflect and think critically upon historical facts and accounts of how aspects of the Criminal Justice System are situated in the context of social issues (e.g. public safety v. privacy rights, institutional racism, use of force, rioting, and class conflict).
- The paper should be formatted in APA style (12 pt, Times New Roman font, 1” margins, double spaced, 500 words minimum, running head with your last name and page number).
- Use proper APA Formatted in-text citations and references when referring to your sources (which should all be from published material). Include a complete reference page for your scholarly sources.
